International Walk to School Day

International Walk to School Day

International Walk to School Day is an annual global event held on the first Wednesday in October.

Since 1999, Active & Safe Routes to School Peterborough has joined millions of children, parents and community leaders from over 40 countries around the world in organizing community-wide Walk to School Day events!

In 2015, ASRTS celebrated the day with St. Paul CES in Lakefield, Ontario, where students and staff joined Elmer the Safety Elephant, local police officers, and Cool Captain Climate for an outdoor assembly and walk around the block.

Local schools are invited to host their own iWALK event. Promotional materials can be found on Active and Safe Routes to School’s IWALK page. To learn more about this global event, visit the official International Walk to School Month website.
