Shifting Gears Challenge
Community Shifting Gears
Welcome to Community Shifting Gears 2017!
Track how you shift your gears this spring, and have a chance to win super Community Shifting Gears awards and prizes!
Peterborough’s month-long transportation challenge is now open to the whole community. It’s a chance for you to make the shift towards active and sustainable transportation. You can change those daily habits and try something new with a little support and encouragement from your community of fellow shifters. As a student, employee, or community member you can track all of the trips you made by walking, biking, transit, carpooling, or telecommuting during the month of May. This includes trips to work, school, friends, appointments, errands – you name it – it counts!
NEW for 2017!

Strava is an online trip mapping app that can track where you choose to walk or bike. We are able to look at this data (not individual trips, just a regional data set) to see hot spots, or places where people most frequently walked or biked. This information can help the City find priority locations for new sidewalks, trails, and bike lanes. If you’d like to add your trips to this regional data set, you can sign up at:
